Mark has been in the dental profession for over a 20 years, being involved in management every step of the way, helping re-brand practices and marketing to everyday management, he has a true passion for this so when the opportunity to own and manage his own dental practice arose, he welcomed the challenge ahead, since starting his first practice from scratch in Driffield Mark has gone on to own two further sites in York and Knaresborough helping spread family dentistry across Yorkshire. Mark enjoys mountain bike riding and racing his beloved Mini nicknamed “The Bear” along with spending time with his wife and children. Mark is a big sports fan, following Leeds Utd, Kansas City Chiefs and all things Formula one.

Dr Tom Stapleton

Dentist

GDC registration 244580. Leeds University. PG Dip Endodontics – Endodontology Diploma with merit

Originally from Leicester, Toms background is in research. This resulted in him achieving a PhD in tissue engineering before gaining his dental qualification at Leeds University. He joined the Purely Dental team in 2019, where he has committed to providing general dentistry with honesty, quality and value.

As well as being a certified Invisalign provider, Tom has also undertaken further advanced restorative training to help provide the smile you deserve. This included completing an advanced certificate in restorative dentistry under the tutor-age of Dominic Hassall as well as completing certification in digital smile design, Smilefast and Bioclear composite bonding systems.

Tom has a natural enthusiasm for endodontics (root canal treatment) and has gone on to take further training in endodontics through the highly regarded Simplyendo training academy. He has since been awarded a diploma with merit and accepts external referrals.

Tom is a member of the British Endodontic Society and also an Associate fellow at the College of General Dentistry.

Tom’s main interest is digital dentistry, continually looking at new techniques to improve the ease and comfort in which treatment is provided.

Outside of dentistry, Tom is a husband and father of two beautiful girls and he enjoys taking walks in the local Yorkshire countryside.

Sarah Williams

Dentist

GDC registration 81850. BDS 2003 Newcastle University

Sarah graduated from Newcastle University in 2003, receiving the North-East vocational trainee prize for research. She has since worked as a dentist for almost twenty years, gaining wide-ranging experience in providing high quality treatment and patient care.

Sarah is passionate about providing dentistry that is cosmetic, comfortable and functional, and has completed training in advanced restorative dentistry with the highly regarded Paul Tipton. She is also an Invisalign provider, and has an interest in minimally-invasive dentistry, such as composite bonding.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, reading, going to the theatre, and creative writing.

Maria Vanessa Herrera Gualdron

Hygiene Therapist

Maria graduated as a dentist in 2014 from Jose Antonio Paez University in Valencia, Venezuela. She brings a wealth of international experience from working in Venezuela, New York, and the UK. Maria has previously worked as a dentist, dental nurse, and hygienist, and is now a GDC-registered Dental Therapist and Hygienist in the UK.

Maria is a supportive and reliable member of the dental team who enjoys helping patients feel relaxed, informed, and confi dent about their smiles. She believes a positive dental experience starts with trust, clear communication, and a gentle approach, and is passionate about preventative care for patients of all ages.

Outside of work, Maria loves travelling, spending time with her family, and socialising with friends. Her calm nature, positive attitude, and genuine care make her a valued part of our Team.

Gill Cliffe

Hygienist

GDC registration 5491.

Gill has worked in dentistry since 1985 and more specifically as a Dental Hygienist since 1999. She has gained her vast clinical experience from working in hospital, NHS, independent, hospital, Community, orthodontics and oncology.

Gill is a passionate clinician focused on delivering health-focused patient care and adopting a holistic approach. She is the current N.E. Regional Representative for the British Society of Dental Hygienists and is married with a teenage daughter.

Amy Zsigmond

Hygiene Therapist

GDC registration 251698 York.

Amy began her career working as a dental nurse before gaining a bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene and Therapy from the University of Leeds.

She enjoys motivating patients to make positive behavioural changes to improve their oral and general health and work to treat and prevent dental disease. Her dual qualification enables her to provide restorative dental work and paediatric dentistry alongside hygiene and periodontal treatment.

Amy’s strengths include working with nervous adults and children guiding them through treatment at their own pace with her gentle and supportive manner.

Amy lives in Knaresborough with her husband and two little ones. She loves family time and long walks in the countryside.

Sara Kinnon

Practice Manager

Sara is our Practice Manager and a highly experienced member of the Purely Dental team, with over 20 years in private dentistry. She has completed a Leadership and Management course with UMD Professions, ensuring the practice runs smoothly while always keeping patients at the heart of everything she does.

Sara is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care and is dedicated to making every visit to Purely Dental a positive, relaxed, and reassuring experience. Her friendly approach and attention to detail help patients feel confident, supported, and well looked after from start to finish.

When she’s not at the practice, Sara enjoys spending quality time with her family and training her growing team of Springer Spaniels.

Hope Clark

Head Nurse & IPC Lead

Hope is our Lead Dental Nurse and qualified at Leeds Dental Institute in 2020. Since joining Purely Dental, she’s continued to grow her skills, gaining additional qualifications in Infection Prevention Control Lead and in BDA Radiography.

You’ll often see Hope in surgery, supporting our clinicians or working on reception, where she loves chatting with patients and helping them feel welcome and relaxed, working across both roles means she really gets to know patients ensuring every visit is a positive experience.

When she’s not at work, Hope enjoys getting outdoors with her partner, walking in the Peak District and Lake District. She also loves photography and spending time with her family in Lincolnshire.

Andrea Szabo

Dental Nurse

Andrea qualified as a Dental Nurse in 2024 and joined the Purely Dental team in 2025. With a naturally caring and compassionate approach, Andrea is passionate about delivering excellent patient care and takes pride in helping patients feel happy, relaxed, and comfortable throughout their visit. She especially enjoys chatting with patients to put them at ease and build trust.

Andrea has a particular passion for all things orthodontics and finds great satisfaction in supporting patients on their journey towards achieving their final smile results.

Outside of work, Andrea loves spending quality time with her family and her two young sons. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, swimming, and unwinding at spas.

Grace Finnie

Dental Nurse

Grace joined Purely Dental in 2024 as a Trainee Dental Nurse and has quickly become a valued member of our team. Known for her caring and kind nature, Grace is approachable and always puts patients at ease from the moment they arrive.

A true team player, she works seamlessly with all of our clinicians and is most often found working alongside Tom, assisting with treatments and ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care. Grace has a particular interest in cosmetic treatments and enjoys being involved in smile makeovers, finding it especially rewarding to help patients achieve confident, beautiful smiles.

Committed to learning and developing her skills, Grace brings enthusiasm and dedication to every aspect of her role. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Bertie, socialising with friends, and is an avid TikToker.
